The Redwoods, Rotorua, New Zealand

MTB/Walking

This Manky is the realisation of a vision, the itch that got scratched.

The idea of the Manky was born from wrestling a paper map whilst mountain biking in the mighty Redwoods Forest, Rotorua, New Zealand.  More time was spent folding maps than riding that day!

We approached Rotorua District Council about creating a Redwoods Manky.  They were coincidentally in the process of designing a new trail map for the forest.

Their Manky is updated on an annual basis.  We have been proudly supplying the Redwoods since 2011.  Their version measures 530mm x 375mm.  They continue to retail well at the forest gift shop and bike hire outlets around the city.

Womad, New Plymouth, New Zealand

Music festival timetable / Artist bio / Site map

We approached Womad New Zealand with a concept for two products, a Bandanna and a Manky to create a "festival buddy"  They were a hit with festival goers.  Both were made out of the microfibre suede cloth used across the range.

The Bandanna measured 550mm x 550mm and the Manky measured 210mm x 297mm (A4).

Lydford Gorge, Lydford, Devon, England

Walking map / Spotter guide

The National Trust South West commissioned a very handy Manky for their picturesque property at Lydford Gorge. They have had a problem with conventional paper leaflets and guide books at the site. The walk is steep in places. At certain points along the trail both hands are required for climbing.

Paper guide books tend to end up dog eared and bent. A soft cloth map that can be easily pushed in to your pocket is a logical alternative to paper.

A Lydford Gorge site map adorns the front side, with a vibrant spotter guide being found on the rear. The spotter guide covers the Flora and Fauna you may encounter on your walk.

The Devil's Punchbowl, Hindhead, Surrey, England

Walking map / Trail information

The National Trust commissioned a Manky to retail in their site cafe and gift shop. It is also used as a giveaway in the new member packs.

Their Manky measures 395mm x 305mm, with a site map on the front and trail descriptions on the rear.

Wellington City, New Zealand

City walking map

Greater Wellington Regional Council, New Zealand, commissioned a Manky Map of their city centre.

They launched their Manky as a give-away at a Sustainable Transport Expo. The day was a great success with members of the public leaving happy with an up-to-date city map printed on a Manky.

Simon Kennett of Kennett Bros fame was at the expo and can be seen in the gallery posing with the new Wellington Manky at the launch.
